Growth Strategy

The company’s first operating plant is a run-of-river facility at Brandywine Creek, BC that was commissioned in 2005.  Since then the 7.6 MW plant has been generating and selling power under a 20-year contract with BC Hydro.

ROR Power plans to expand by continuing to build new power generation facilities in two categories: additional run-of-river plants and biomass power generators.  The company’s development plans are detailed in “Our Projects” section of this website but in brief, additional run-of-river projects consist of five clusters with a capacity of 639 MW in the Upper Pitt River watershed, Mamquam River watershed and along Highway 20 in central BC.  The biomass growth component comprises the Tsilhqot’in and Suskwa projects, with a capacity of 90 MW.  The company’s total development potential is in excess of 736 MW.

To date, ROR Power has focused its growth plans on run-of-river and biomass projects primarily within BC.  However, the company is seeking to diversity its revenue base as a longer-term objective.  Accordingly, management is investigating opportunities in other “green” energy areas such as wind power and considering operations beyond BC’s borders.
